Standards
Editorial policy
Our editorial process is designed to keep product information accurate, sourced and useful to newcomers.
Research
We start with publicly available provider sources: official terms pages, fee schedules, cardmember agreements, help centers and regulator disclosures. We extract the fields that matter most to people who are new to the U.S., such as SSN/ITIN requirements, minimum deposits, foreign fees and credit-check policies.
Fact-checking
Before a product is published, a reviewer checks the extracted details against an official source. We record the source, the date it was retrieved, and the date the version was reviewed. Claims that cannot be verified are marked “Not confirmed.”
Updates
Products are flagged for re-review based on source age, provider announcements, or user correction reports. When a product is updated, we publish a new reviewed date and keep the sources list current.
Corrections
If we publish an error, we correct it as soon as we can verify the right information. Significant corrections are noted with a new review date. You can report a problem through our correction form.
Conflicts of interest
Compensation from providers is disclosed. It does not influence which products we review, what we write about them, or how they are ranked in editorial comparisons. Editorial staff are not incentivized to favor compensated providers.
Independence
NewcomerFi’s editorial team operates independently from the business team. Provider partners do not review or approve our editorial content before publication.
