Plan monthly spending and arrival cash for the U.S. or Canada. Home-currency comparison is optional. Sample budgets are illustrative assumptions, not measured city averages; replace them with current household quotes.

Base examples assume one person in a private apartment. Additional people add 60% of base groceries and 15% of base utilities each; shared rent uses 60% of base rent. A car replaces transit with an illustrative USD 500 / CAD 600 monthly transport allowance, excluding insurance. Childcare and other optional costs start at zero.

Enter each moving expense once. Other moving costs should exclude the itemized amounts.

How this calculator works

Monthly balance equals destination take-home income minus all entered monthly expenses. Savings rate is that balance divided by take-home income. Arrival cash equals your selected months of destination spending plus itemized and other moving costs. The result also shows 3-, 6- and 9-month scenarios. Home comparison converts destination expenses using your optional exchange rate. Destination results work without exchange rates. Taxes are already excluded from take-home income.

Reference rates come from our existing cached exchange-rate service. Rates older than 48 hours are not used. Fees and currency spreads are excluded. Budget presets are examples, not cost-of-living statistics. Check housing listings, local transit fares, childcare and insurance quotes before deciding.
